Description
It is the hope of the owners and staff of Turtle Island that you too, will fall in love with Turtle. Recognized worldwide as the site of both the “Blue Lagoon” films, this five-star resort is designed for couples who enjoy romantic picnics for two, intimate moonlit dinners at seaside, horseback riding at dawn, or relaxing and sensual massages. Although Turtle only accommodates 14 couples at any given time, they have a staff of over 150 people on the island to provide couples with an experience of a lifetime. Since its opening in 1980, Turtle Island has been hailed as one of Fiji's (and the world's) finest resorts.
Fiji People and Culture From this warm and ancient culture comes a new sense of community and a nurturing, teaching, fun loving staff with a great South Pacific sense of humor.
You'll find them eager to share their musical heritage, explain the sea life and coral, demonstrate the medicinal uses of trees and plants found in the forest, teach you to windsurf or take you fishing.
The Fijian culture is filled with a wealth of colorful ceremonies, rituals and beliefs. In a traditional village house, fire is considered a symbol of life. A fire in the hearth smokes out mosquitoes, adds warmth, cooks food and drives the evil spirits away.
The Living Culture The Fijian culture is very much alive and well on Turtle Island, and when you come here, you live and play alongside them. Food is at the core of daily activities. They hunt, fish and gather fruits and vegetables. No ceremony is complete without the presentation of food.
Island Transfers Transfers to Turtle Island are usually by seaplane, conditions permitting. The seaplane fare buys a seat on a chartered seaplane and not a dedicated seaplane. The seaplane flight takes 30 minutes and flies at low levels to allow you to enjoy the panoramic views of the Mamanuca and Yasawa Islands. The seaplane landing is spectacular - right on the shores of the Blue Lagoon at Turtle Island.
