No Shirts, No Shoes ... No Problem!

No Shirts, No Shoes ... No Problem! Ambergris Caye is Belize’s largest island and known for the phrase, “no shirt, no shoes, no problem.” Located 35 miles Northeast of Belize City, the island is easily accessed via a 20 minute plane ride over the beautiful Caribbean Sea. Las Terrazas is located 3.5 miles North of San Pedro. Upon your arrival at the San Pedro Airport, you will greeted by one of the resort’s representatives who will escort you to the water taxi for a ten-minute boat ride to this secluded resort.

Guests of Las Terrazas will enjoy luxurious yet laid-back island living and the convenience of reaching Ambergris Caye from Belize City by a short flight. Multiple airlines also offer convenient flights from the United States and Canada.

On site representatives will assist you in planning a wide assortment of activities on the island and on the mainland. A sample includes:

 Scuba Diving/Snorkeling/Reefs
Belize is more than just a terrestrial paradise. It’s an underwater marvel as well, offering big islands, hundreds of smaller offshore isles, three huge and distinctive coral atolls, and the world’s second largest barrier reef. Belizean waters are filled with shallow gardens of coral, steep drop-offs speckled with vibrant sponges and other marine life. With the world famous Great Blue Hole it's no wonder that Belize is one of the world's most suited diving adventures.

The most popular offshore destination in Belize is Ambergris Caye - the northernmost and the largest of the many cayes, it is home to the little town of San Pedro. Singer and songwriter Madonna once sang about this beloved island in her song, "Isla Bonita". Ambergris' sandy streets are filled with charming shops and great restaurants just off the shore of the Caribbean Sea. The dive environment includes over 20 miles of barrier reef that runs parallel to the island. This island offers divers more than 40 named dive sites that can be reached from Las Terrazas each and every day!

 Mayan Ruins & Pyramids/Explorations
Las Terrazas Resort offers a number of unique explorations that allow guests a glimpse of the rich Mayan culture that was located throughout parts of what is now Belize thousands of years ago. The Mayan civilization, dating back to 1500 B.C. is thought to be the most sophisticated civilization in the ancient Americas and traces of this ancient civilization can still be seen in the form of magnificent pyramids that poke through the canopies of the Belizean jungle.

Rainforest/Eco-Tours/Jungle Hiking Adventures/Cave Tubing
Half of Belize is covered by dense, largely unexplored rainforest of which 80% remains under government protection. These tropical forests provide habitats for a wide range of animals including jaguar, puma, ocelot, armadillo, tapir and crocodile. For those with the spirit to venture off the beaten track, the natural and cultural diversity of Toledo makes a visit to Southern Belize a unique adventure.

 Deep Sea Fishing/Fly Fishing/Reef Fishing
Las Terrazas Resort will become the premier fishing resort on Ambergris Caye. Nestled between the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean and the pristine mangroves, Las Terrazas Resort offers packages for both the angler and non-angler. The resort hosts numerous fly-fishing enthusiasts, many of whom go for the "Grand Slam" of fly-fishing which is to catch a Permit, Bonefish and Tarpon, all on one trip.

Parasailing & Waverunners
Sail high above the sea and get a bird's eye view of San Pedro. Due to variable underwater terrain, this trip will take off from the Fido's dock in San Pedro. Nerve racking excitement is included as you glide through the skies and enjoy the incredible views. If flying is not for you, rent a two-seated wave runner and blast up and down the waterfront with the feeling of complete freedom. Both activities offer a different and unique perspective of the coast of Ambergris Caye.

 Unguided Activites
Las Terrazas Resort offers numerous activites that can anyone can participant in without the need for a guide. Bicycles, kayaks, canoes and Hobie float cats are available on a first come first serve basis free of charge for all registered guests. Fishing is a popular activity for many guests and some of Belize's best bone fishing can be found within minutes from your Las Terrazas guest townhouse. Belize has literally hundreds of square kilometers of flats and many of the sandy flats can be waded easily.

Las Terrazas is also a popular destination for birdwatching enthusiasts. Belize is home to over 500 species of resident and migratory birds. With varied ecosystems, ranging from coastal mangroves and swamps, to isolated barrier reef cayes, to dense tropical rainforest and clear open savannahs, Belize is a wonderful destination for avid birdwatchers and amateurs alike. The Belize Audubon Society (BAS) is active in managing many of Belize's reserves, and has a number of bird lists and field guides available in the central office in Belize City, as well as at the various visitors centers they operate throughout the country. So don't forget to bring binoculars and your bird guide-book and wear boots, lightweight long-sleeved shirts, and trousers if you plan to go birdwatching in paradise.

Bicycles are perfect for cruising up and down the beach. Head south towards town or go north to check out some of the newer developments on the island. The bike ride to town takes about 30 minutes each way and allows you to be a little more flexible spending your time in town shopping. - Equipment Needed: Sun Block, Hat - Appropriate Clothing: Shorts and light clothing - Take along: Drinking water (a lot) - Level of difficulty – Easy

On the property, they have self-guided kayaking through mangroves where you can see crocodiles, rare birds, fish, and butterflies no more than a half-mile from your room. And do not forget complimentary Hobie float cats, kayaks and canoes. No matter what your preference is, Las Terrazas has the right prescription for your most memorable vacation. Do it all or do nothing at all. There is a sign out sheet at the Tour Desk and all equipment is available on a first come first serve basis.
