Guided Hiking The first mountaineers in Canada were an eclectic group of adventurers. From wealthy heirs and heiresses to staunch academics, people from all walks of life were eager to unravel the mysteries of the great Rockies peaks. From 1899 to 1954, professional Swiss mountain guides were employed by the Chateau, making over 250 first ascents into these mountains, almost always leading hotel guests. Today, you can relive the experiences of those early adventurers through "Mountain Heritage" guided Mountaineering and Interpretive Hiking Programs.
The Chateau's naturalist guide-in-residence and professional mountain guides are delighted to share the nature, history and culture of this magnificent place with you. Join one of them on a exhilarating trip filled with the joys of discovery. Interpretive walks and hikes are designed for all skill levels.
