Lake Louise
Nestled deep within Banff National Park, Lake Louise is enveloped by some of the most breathtaking scenery in the world. The sheer beauty of the glistening glaciers, remote ice fields, snowcapped peaks and crystal-clear lakes create a dramatic setting of unparalleled mystique. Renowned as the largest single mountain ski area in North America and one of the best alpine skiing regions in the world, Lake Louise offers other outdoor activities including interpretive hiking, mountaineering, canoeing, horseback riding, mountain biking, fishing, golf, ATV tours, boat cruises, and whitewater rafting. Winter activities include downhill and cross-country skiing, sleigh rides, skating parties on Lake Louise, snowshoeing, canyon winter walks, stargazing, fireside chats, and dog sledding.
In addition, the Chateau has an indoor heated pool, a whirlpool, a steam room and a fitness center. Crystelle's Beauty Salon provides relaxing treatments and massage services. Try the Hot Lava Stone Massage or the Detox-Thalasso Wrap. If you prefer, you can get a massage in the comfort of your room.

Canoeing Lake Louise
The late Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau loved canoeing, famously commenting that it makes you "a child of nature". Become a child yourself again (or bring the kids along) on a paddle across world-famous Lake Louise. Life moves in perfect unison with the sights and sounds of the wild as you guide your bright red canoe across brilliant blue-green waters toward the towering Victoria Glacier. No previous experience required, the Sports Department will demonstrate the skills first-timers need.

Sleigh Rides
"Sleigh bells ring, are you listening?" Brewster Barn offers old-fashioned sleigh rides along the shores of Lake Louise. An authentic Belgian sleigh glides behind massive but gentle horses arriving to greet you. Cozy blankets are handed out as your new friends whinny softly. Then you're off on a magical ride.

Ice Skating
The massive Victoria Glacier and snow-frosted Rocky Mountains provide a backdrop worthy of Broadway for the Chateau's weekend skating parties. Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night, the scene is set with steaming cups of hot chocolate to sip, music to glide to and a crackling outdoor fire to warm fingers and toes.

Skiing
Lake Louise is one of Canada's largest ski areas with a 3,250-foot vertical drop spread over four mountain faces. With over 1,000 skiable acres and 113 named runs to choose from, this alpine terrain offers the perfect variety for all abilities. Every chair lift has both an easy and a more difficult way down, allowing everyone from novice to expert to enjoy and explore the whole mountain, including the famed back bowls.

Guided Hiking
The first mountaineers in Canada were an eclectic group of adventurers. From wealthy heirs and heiresses to staunch academics, people from all walks of life were eager to unravel the mysteries of the great Rockies peaks. From 1899 to 1954, professional Swiss mountain guides were employed by the Chateau, making over 250 first ascents into these mountains, almost always leading hotel guests. Today, you can relive the experiences of those early adventurers through "Mountain Heritage" guided Mountaineering and Interpretive Hiking Programs.
The Chateau's naturalist guide-in-residence and professional mountain guides are delighted to share the nature, history and culture of this magnificent place with you. Join one of them on a exhilarating trip filled with the joys of discovery. Interpretive walks and hikes are designed for all skill levels.

Snowshoeing
Strap on a pair of snowshoes and whisper through the forest on this ancient and remarkably easy-to-learn mode of transportation. Mountain Heritage Guides will teach you how to search for tracks and explain how animals cope and thrive in this frosty world.
Want to get out in the woods after dark? Guided night-time snowshoe walks are a great way to discover the forest's secret spots. Winter attire, including a warm coat, boots, gloves and hat, is necessary.
