Beaches & Coves

Beaches & Coves Laguna Beach is famous for its miles of white sand beaches.

  • Beautiful Victoria Beach is a short stroll from Casa Laguna and is known for its soft white sand, beautiful blue-green water, impressive residences (old and new) and its famous residents.
  • Moss Point sits just to the north of Casa Laguna and offers a close-up look at marine wildlife and nature's progress in its tide pools, sheer cliffs and rock formations.
  • Main Beach is the center of the "Beach Life" in Laguna with the famous Lifeguard Headquarters Station surrounded by volleyball and basketball courts, art exhibits, craft festivals and all activities related to the ocean (snorkeling, scuba diving, surfing, etc...).
  • Heisler Park winds along the most scenic cliffs on the California Coast. A walk through the park offers the observer prime examples of the natural architecture, flora and fauna of the California Sea Coast.
  • To the south of the hotel is Thousand Steps Beach, which offers great body surfing, skim boarding and volleyball courts.
  • Treasure Island Park is also nearby and we have beach chairs and umbrellas available for you to use.

Learn how to surf or play volleyball — Rather than a casual stroll or an afternoon relaxing on the beach, how about A Day at the Beach learning how to surf, play volleyball or both? Private and group lessons available from 60 minutes to full days with organized tournaments.

Whale Watching
More than 20,000 gray whales swim the Pacific shores during their annual migration, passing through the waters of Laguna from mid-December to early April. The summer months attract pods of dolphins, the occasional blue whales, harbor seals, and California sea lions. Get close to these marine friends through a excursion with Captain Dave's out of Dana Point.

Dining

Dining Some of the finest dining in Orange County is in Laguna Beach. A portfolio of menus is available in the Mission House Library. Many of the best local restaurants deliver to the Casa Laguna. You may wish to enjoy a leisurely meal in your room or one of the secluded patios around the hotel. On request, picnic baskets also can be prepared.

Walking Distance
Dizz’s As Is' ever changing menu offers a traditional continental cuisine in an eclectic setting. A tranquil and tropical scene surrounds the fantastic prime steaks and seafood served at Tabu Grill.

In Town
Favorites in town also include the sundried tomato café, another institution located in the heart of the village and the more elegant French 75 with its champagne and martini bar. For lunch, both Madison Square & Garden and Café Zinc delight locals as well as visitors. Laguna’s newest dining offerings: Hus for fine dining, and Sapphire for brunch, lunch and dinner.

Other Options

Other Options Flora and Fauna tour of the Laguna Green Belt and South Coast Wilderness Park - 19,000 acres of coastal wilderness, parks, open space and marine preserves surrounding Laguna. Walking, hiking, cycling, mountain biking, horseback riding and birdwatching are some of the activities that go on in this treasure of public lands.

Wine Tasting – Yes, wine tasting in Orange County! Thirty minutes from Casa Laguna is an excellent, family owned vineyard and winery. Hamilton Oaks has been producing great wines since 1993. After building their home in Trabuco Canyon, the Tamez Family planted grapes on the hillsides adjacent to their property. The product turned out to be of great quality so rather than selling to one of the large wineries, they decided to give wine making a try for themselves. The results are some terrific wines including Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Zinfandel. The drive from the Casa Laguna to the Hamilton Oaks Winery is beautiful and offers a rare glimpse of Orange County’s rich history as an agricultural powerhouse.

Art Galleries - Having developed as an "Artist's Colony", Laguna has a long heritage of outstanding local artists and craftspeople exhibiting their creations. There are many specialized galleries that focus on a particular artist, medium or subject. On the first Thursday of the month, over 40 galleries offer extended hours, snacks and refreshments during "Art Walk", a monthly event where new arrivals and the "best of the best" are featured in a festive and social atmosphere.

Laguna Art Museum - An exceptional regional gallery, the museum has a very active schedule and offers a very broad program.

Pageant of the Masters and Festival of Arts - A tradition in Laguna Beach since 1932. The pageant is "tableau vivant" presentations of works of The Masters. A unique experience not to be missed. The pageant runs nightly July 1 through August 31.

Heritage Homes, Cottages and Public Art - Laguna Beach offers a City Transit that is great for getting around town and even better for getting a tour of the significant sights. Check with one Casa Laguna's hosts at the front desk for tour descriptions and times. The City Transit stop is directly in front of Casa Laguna.
