Pete Dye Design
Pete Dye is considered in many circles to be the most influential golf course architect of the last 50 years. And Casa de Campo is delighted to have three of his courses on the grounds. Each is distinct from the rest yet each bears the signature Dye style and challenge. Dye’s hands-on approach and organic style are superbly influenced by the traditions of the game. In fact, it was in 1963, that Dye’s style congealed on a visit to Scotland. It was there that he discovered railroad ties, tiny pot bunkers and many other course elements that he has successfully incorporated over the years. Most all of these features can be found on many of his internationally celebrated courses, including the world renowned Stadium Course at the Tournament Players Club at Sawgrass, the PGA West course, the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island and Whistling Straits. His work also includes a collaboration with Jack Nicklaus on the Harbour Town Golf Links in Hilton Head, SC.
The courses created by Pete Dye at Casa de Campo are among the finest places to golf in the world. The Teeth of the Dog’s inception in 1969 tasked Dye with transforming the overgrown, jagged coral reef coastline of the Dominican Republic into a single course worthy of "The Caribbean's Most Complete Resort". With the aide of 300 local laborers, Dye and his talented partner and wife Alice worked for two years to create the course that now ranks #1 in the Caribbean.
Play on the "Teeth's" seven ocean side holes is exhilarating. Errant balls collide with ocean rocks like ping pong balls, and strong Caribbean breezes challenge each stroke. His trademark railroad ties, vast waste areas, peninsula green and tees, hand-sculpted putting surfaces and unique assortment of pot bunkers and elevated bunkers give the course the signature Dye-style.
Although credited with designing the course, Dye is quick to point out that the "Teeth" was "definitely designed by the 'man upstairs'." In other words... "I created eleven holes and God created seven!" By far Dye's personal favorite, the "Teeth of the Dog" opened in 1971 as a 6,888-yard, par 72-layout, with par 3's celebrated by Golf Magazine.
The newer Dye Fore course and the award-winning Links course further the vision of Pete Dye and bring a unique and thrilling golf experience to Casa de Campo guests.

'Dyed' and Gone to Golf Heaven
Of the 18 picturesque holes on the Dye Fore course, number 12 and number 15 are two of the greatest par three courses in the world. This new addition to the Casa de Campo golf triad is said to rival the “Teeth of the Dog” course.
“Dye Fore has spectacular views of the Caribbean Sea, the mountains, the Chavón River below and the Altos de Chavón artists' village," said Gilles Gagnon, Director of Golf at Casa de Campo. "Visually, the course is intimidating and the par three's are incredible.”

Water, Water Everywhere
The Links course, also designed by Pete Dye, has a moderately hilly track with tall bahia and guinea grass roughs as well as plenty of sand traps to keep you on your toes. Thought by some to be reminiscent of traditional British and Scottish courses, there are several lagoons and even lakes with wading birds. There are five holes where water comes into play on this course making it a challenge unto itself.
