Historic Camp Richardson Resort & Marina, located on Lake Tahoe’s Southwest Shore, is the closest resort to Emerald Bay as well as gateway to the Desolation Wilderness. Miles of sandy beaches awaits the visitor to Camp Richardson Marina, where everything from Seadoo and power boat rentals, to paddle boat and kayaks are available. Kids and adults alike will enjoy relaxing on the long stretch of beach, and enjoy the swimming area. Still looking for ways to have fun at Camp Rich? Try the Lake Tahoe Waterski School, or the newest craze... Parasailing!

With the closest marina to Emerald Bay and one of the lake’s longest piers, the Camp Richardson Marina offers an endless array of ways to have fun exploring the incredible blue waters of Lake Tahoe. A gas dock, as well as launching and mooring facilities are available for those who would like to bring their own boat up to the lake. During the summer months, the marina is open seven days a week from 8:00am to 8:00pm. Camp Richardson offers a long boating season, with fall specials running through September.

For those looking to mountain bike on some of the finest trails found in the United states, stop by the Mountain Sports Center at Camp Rich (located directly across from the hotel). With one of the lake’s largest selection of bikes to rent, and the most up-to-date information on where to ride or hike, the Mountain Sports Center also features a large selection of maps, guidebooks and bike accessories. Located right on a paved bike path, the Mountain Sports Center is the closest bike rental location to the Tallac Historic Estates, the USFS Stream Profile Chamber, as well as several small alpine lakes and waterfalls. There are miles of safe, paved trails which are perfect for the entire family – never ride on city streets. Many hiking trails are located right by Camp Rich, and lead to surrounding peaks and ridges, including Tallac & Fallen Leaf Lake.

Winter Recreation
Once the snow flies, the fun continues at Camp Rich with snowshoeing and cross country skiing at the Mountain Sports Center. Recently voted “Best Place to Cross Country Ski” by Tahoe locals, the Sports Center offers groomed and marked trails for the beginner to the expert and is a great place to ski along the shores of the water. With a wide selection of skis and snowshoes (including youth and children’s sizes), lessons are available, call for dates and times.

The miles of bike trails from summer are magically changed to a beautiful white winter wonderland for skiing and snowshowing. Winter fun doesn’t stop at the Mountain Sports Center, you can look forward to Full Moon Cross Country and Snowshowing parties, and the famous “Snowshoe Cocktail Race” held on the shore of the lake at The Beacon. Imagine the fun of wearing snowshoes, holding a drink on a cocktail tray, and “racing” around a course! Prizes are awarding and fun is had by everyone.
